Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior political figure stated the incident made him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
